Eugene Suarez, Sr., President

gene_srAs the president and founder of Abuelita, Eugene, Sr. has done it all in our family business.  Born in Tucson, AZ of Mexican parents, Gene wore many hats before starting the company. Eugene Sr. is a proud Korean War veteran who served with the USMC, a Tucson detective and was director of law enforcement for the Bureau of Indian Affairs.  The last job brought him to Washington, DC, where he started the business in Herndon, VA.  Being a small business entrepreneur means doing whatever is necessary –dishwasher, driver, accountant, salesman, and most importantly, visionary.  Running the business over 40 years later is a testament to the will and drive of Eugene.  His dream is realized by his employees – “The business is like family.  We have so many people who have worked here for over 20 years.  We could not do what we do without them.”
